What did you learn in Rotterdam?

"Taking chances! I want to get the best out of myself. In a big city like Rotterdam, there are plenty of opportunities to do that. You can choose from lots of courses and there is always a good job or a suitable internship to be found."

Where should you be?

"With my side job and my education, I don't have a lot of time to go out or exercise. But to recover for a while I like the Park near the Euromast. A nice green place where you can meet up with friends but also just walk around on your own. There are plenty of places to get something to eat and drink. For an evening with friends or family you can go well to Asian Fusion, a restaurant in Rotterdam-Zuid. And if you really have something to celebrate, I can recommend Fred. Really fantastic food. But then again, he has a Michelin star."

What should you really do (or not do) as a freshman?

"I think the most important thing is to be open to other people. Stay social, don't do everything alone. A big city like Rotterdam can feel quite lonely. So join activities for freshmen, get to know your fellow students or meet up with friends from high school in the city. And ask for help if you need it."

What will you do?

"I've been doing an MBO in a completely different direction, social work, for the past few months, but am now sure what I want. So after the vacations I will start my bachelor's degree in business administration. And besides that I would like to become an entrepreneur, preferably in the hospitality industry. That's how I want to reach my full potential. In about five years? Then I'll have my own business and a nice house. In Rotterdam, of course!"
