The Route

Tim's route begins in the neighborhood where he lives, at the corner of Bergweg and Noordsingel, at Bakery Marhaba.

The route ends at City Hall

The length of the route is 2.22 kilometers.

The start is the intersection of Bergweg and Noordsingel. This is the neighborhood where Tim Versnel lives.

  1. Walk on the right side of the water.
  2. Cross the blue bridge
  3. And continue on the other side of the water.
  4. You walk past the old courthouse with the old prison, the ZwartJan, behind it. On the building is still Lady Justice. The building is now used by entrepreneurs and beautiful homes have been made in the former prison. If you are curious walk through the gate to the residential area behind it.
  5. Go across the wooden bridge to the other side.
  6. And continue walking along the water again.
  7. Cross the Zomerhof Bridge
  8. And continue walking along the water again.
  9. You come out on the Heer Bokelweg.
  10. Turn right.
  11. Turn left onto Hofdijk.
  12. You will pass by the City Archives of Rotterdam. Anyone can go in here to search and find old photos and information.
  13. Turn left at the end of Hofdijk: the Stroveer.
  14. And walk along a narrow path around FG Food Labs and Roosje to turn left through the tunnel under the railroad tracks.

  16. You come out on the Couwenburg.
  17. Turn left.
  18. You come out on the Pompenburg.
  19. You face a large work of art by Cor Kraat: The New Delft Gate, a new gate with stone elements of the old Delft Gate from 1764.
  20. Walk up the Haagseveer.
  21. Turn right into Doel Street.
  22. Target Street ends at City Hall.
  23. When City Hall is open you can also enter the amazing and romantic courtyard garden.

Tim Versnel

Tim Versnel is an alderman in Rotterdam and his field of work is work and income, South and EU migrant workers. Above his bed hangs the statement, "Work is more than just income. Work makes people able to take care of themselves and be free and proud. Work makes people part of society." In his work for the city, he is hard on business but soft on people.

Tim grew up in Capelle aan den IJssel with his mother and little brother. His mother had to rely on social assistance for a while. Tim has good memories of his childhood. He later lived in Krimpen aan den IJssel and Rotterdam. From 1999 to 2005 he attended vwo at Krimpenerwaard College in Krimpen aan den IJssel. From 2006 to 2012, he studied political science at Leiden University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 2010 and his Master of Science in 2012.

The desire to enter politics was in him from an early age. His first step was city councilman in Krimpen

Tim studied political science at Leiden University, worked at Sue Behavioural Design and wrote the book "Alles komt goed." with Klaas Dijkhof. He has been an alderman in Rotterdam since 2022.
